This year, IPPT PAN has inaugurated celebrations of the International Day of Medical Physics. Our main aim is to disseminate the subject of medical physics, show correlations between modern technology and the effects of therapy and present IPPT PAN’s experience and many years’ contribution to the research and development of advanced medical technologies. A medical physicist is not a doctor, but their role in medicine is of great importance. Frequently, the possibility of successful treatment is not possible without the close cooperation of the two.
International Day of Medical Physics was celebrated on 7th November, 2019 in two IPPT PAN units: the Department of Ultrasound (popular science class was conducted by dr Hanna Piotrzkowska-Wróblewska) and the Laboratory of Polymers and Biomaterials (dr Tomasz Kowalczyk).
International Day of Medical Physics has been celebrated since 2013, initialized by the International Organization for Medical Physics, bringing together 88 national Associations of Medical Physicists and aiming at promoting medical physics practices.
Although the International Day of Medical Physics has been celebrated at IPPT PAN for the first time, the Institute has many years’ experience in the field of medical physics.
