On 3-5 October 2018, at the National Security Conference, Michał Kleiber, professor at IPPT PAN was awarded the Ring of the "100th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Poland". Professor Kleiber was honoured with the award in recognition of his contribution to national security, public interest, economic development and the reinforcement of Poland’s image abroad.

The Ring of the "100th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Poland" is a commendation of Stowarzyszenie Wspierania Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego (Society for the Support of National Security), whose aim, among others, is to award the persons who greatly contribute to national security, public interest, economic development and the reinforcement of Poland’s image abroad. Prof. Michał Kleiber works at the Department of Information and Computational Science at the IPPT PAN. He is an outstanding scientist in mechanics and information technology. His main scientific and didactic research concentrates on the application of new computer technologies for the use of science, technology and medicine, in particular for modelling, analysis, simulation and visualization of complex phenomena of non-linear thermomechanics. In recent years, Professor Kleiber has also been engaged in the issues of pro-development public policy, particularly the strategies for the development of education, science and innovation capacity of the economy.
