The opening ceremony of the Academic Year 2016/2017 took place on October 27, 2016 at Biocentrum Ochota (Auditorium & Exhibition hall of the Nałęcz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering PAN).

The 40th Solid Mechanics Confrence SolMech 2016 organized by our Institute took place from August 30 to September 2, 2016.

On September 24-30,2016 Science Festival took place at IPPT PAN. In the annual event we presented the series of lectures and laboratory presentations for audience of all ages.

IPPT PAN has been nominated as the organizer of the prestigious International Conference on Experimental Mechanics ICEM19 to be held in 2020 in Cracow.

The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland granted a patent for the team of IPPT: prof. Tomasz A. Kowalewski, Diana Lamparska, Krzysztof Zembrzycki and Tomasz Kowalczyk, Ph.D. The invention "Method of producing mats of nanofibers" refers to a new method of forming membranes of electrospun nanofibers used rotating surface of the water as a collector nanofibers.

Professor Zbigniew Kowalewski has been nominated as the vice-president of the Council of the European Society for Experimental Mechanics on July 5th, 2016.

We are pleased to announce a monograph "Why must we work in the phase space?" (IPPT Reports 1/2016) by Jan J. Sławianowski, Frank E. Schroeck Jr., Agnieszka Martens. The authors are going to prove that the phase-space description is fundamental both in the classical and quantum physics.

Paweł Jarzębski has been awarded a scholarship by the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - German Academic Exchange Service) for research project at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

On August 23, 2016, the General Assembly of International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM) has elected Professor Henryk Petryk the Secretary General.

The entrance exam for the Doctoral Studies at the IPPT PAN in the new Academic Year 2016/17 will be held on the 20th of June, 2016 (Monday) at 11:00 a.m. in Audytorium (Room 228, Ist floor). The interested candidates are welcome.
