Karol Golasiński, a PhD student at the Department of Experimental Mechanics, Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, obtained a scholarship for outstanding achievements in the academic year 2018/2019 according to the decision of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences made on the 20th of November 2018.
The scholarship, established in 2016, is a special distinction given to the best PhD students from various Institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Each year no more than 10 scholarships are given. The competition is open to PhD students who completed at least the first year of their PhD course and have outstanding scientific achievements in their discipline. Candidacies for the scholarship, after being accepted by the Scientific Council, are sent by the presidents of certain institutes to the president of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Karol Golasiński is a PhD student at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The title of his PhD thesis under preparation, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Elżbieta Pieczyska, is „Analysis of thermomechanical couplings in Gum Metal under selected loadings”. Among Karol Golasiński’s achievements, which contributed to getting the scholarship one should mention co-authorship of 8 publications from a list A MNiSW and a participation in 3 scientific projects performed at IPPT (NCN projects, Preludium project leader) as well as 3 research projects (KMM-VIN, DAAD and interacademic project) realized in collaboration with foreign scientific partners (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Fraunhofer-Institut für Fertigungstechnik und Angewandte Materialforschung IFAM Dresden and Romanian Academy).
