On August 31, 2016, the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland granted a patent for the team of IPPT: prof. Tomasz A. Kowalewski, Diana Lamparska, Krzysztof Zembrzycki and Tomasz Kowalczyk, Ph.D. The invention "Method of producing mats of nanofibers" refers to a new method of forming membranes of electrospun nanofibers used rotating surface of the water as a collector nanofibers. Once created, the membrane can be transferred to the surface of the final product, to which the membrane sticks. Created mats are characterized by high mechanical strength - e.g. a disk with a diameter of 67 mm and a thickness of 50 micrometers maintained 360 g. The resulting mats can be used e.g. as wound dressings or filters. In the present invention the mat does not need to rip off the surface of the porous substrate in which they are produced. This is a method without a substrate, in which undamaged mats are obtained.
