In September 2018, Dorota Kołbuk-Konieczny, PhD, from the Laboratory of Polymer and Biomaterial in IPPT PAN received a scholarship refunded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland.
Scholarships for outstanding young scientists are awarded to young researchers employed at universities, institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and research institutes. Applications are submitted by organizations employing the young researchers. The evaluation includes scientific achievements of the candidate, the level of research, awards and participation in international projects.
In the 12th edition of the competition, 181 scholarships were awarded to scientists from among 1129 applications examined. The Polish Ministry of Science has allocated over PLN 35 million to individual scholarships. The full list of winners is available on the (website).
Dorota graduated in 2007 at the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology, obtaining a master's degree in engineering. In 2007-2012, she completed doctoral studies at the Laboratory of Polymer Physics at IPPT PAN, obtaining in February 2013 the degree of doctor of technical sciences. During her scientific activity, Dorota has participated in many research projects, both national and European, holding the position of the manager or the main contractor/ contractor. She is a co-author of 15 publications from the JCR list, 3 patent applications, an expert in several external organizations.
The laureate has gained interdisciplinary knowledge while working in Poland/abroad and during several external trainings; she works in field of fundamental material research, cells-materials interactions and medical devices commercialization. Currently, in cooperation with renowned specialists in the field of orthopedics, she applies the most attention to materials development for the regeneration of ligaments and bones.
