Karol Golasiński, a PhD student at Department of Experimental Mechanics has been awarded a scholarship by the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - German Academic Exchange Service) for presentation entitled ,,Unique mechanical performance of an innovative Ti-based superalloy Gum Metal under compression" during Young Researchers Session at the International Conference Humboldt-Kolleg "Limits of Knowledge" organized in Cracow, June 22-25, 2017. The prizes were one-month DAAD scholarships for research visits at selected scientific centers in Germany. Young Researchers were distinguished in three categories: Natural Sciences and Technology, Life Sciences as well as Social Sciences and Humanities.

The DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - German Academic Exchange Service) is the world’s largest funding organisation for the international exchange of students and researchers. Since it was founded in 1925, more than 1.9 million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding. It is a registered association and its members are German institutions of higher education and student bodies. Its activities go far beyond simply awarding grants and scholarships. The DAAD supports the internationalisation of German universities, promotes German studies and the German language abroad, assists developing countries in establishing effective universities and advises decision makers on matters of cultural, education and development policy.
