Streszczenie:
Driven by concerns about climate change, there is a growing need for renewable, environment-friendly and not expensive energy sources that can replace fossil fuels. One of the most promising green solutions is hydrogen production during water splitting in a solar-driven nanocatalytic process. However, the efficiency of photocatalytic hydrogen production still needs to be enhanced. The proposed research project aims to develop an electrode for efficient photo-nanocatalytic
water splitting based on the nanosphere lithography with use of periodic self-assembly crystals of polystyrene spheres (PS). Subsequent plasma etching, metal deposition and spheres removal leaves a thin, periodically perforated metal film which can be decorated with semiconductor nanoparticles. The objective is to improve the catalytic activity, which determines the efficiency of the designed metal-semiconductor electrode, that will be used for nanocatalytic water splitting.
